The mission of the USSD Committee on Foundations is to establish and accomplish specific programs relating to the geology and foundations of large dams.
The Committee on Foundations promotes research and development in dam foundation engineering. Currently, the Committee is working on two white papers entitled: Degradation of Dam Foundations and Dam Foundation Investigation Protocols.
The Committee disseminates technology within the dam engineering community. Currently, the Committee is compiling case histories on the following topics:
- Dam Foundation Improvement Techniques
- Dam Foundations (validation of design conditions during construction)
The Committee is also assisting in preparing and reviewing a Draft Manual for the ICOLD Committee on Dam Foundations.
The Committee informs USSD Members about current information on dam foundation engineering.
