21st USSD Annual Meeting and Lecture Proceedings

Foreword

The theme of the 21st USSD Annual Lecture was The Future of Dams and Their Reservoirs. The Lecture was organized by the USSD Committee on Construction and Rehabilitation, with assistance from the Committees on Environmental Effects and Dam Decommissioning.

A variety of contemporary issues facing the dam industry were addressed during the Lecture. Papers were presented during concurrent Technical Sessions and a Poster Sessions on the following topics:

  • Life Extension Through Rehabilitation and Maintenance
  • Optimizing the Use of Resources for the Needs of Society
  • Decommissioning
  • Design Considerations

A total of 50 papers are included in this Proceedings. Authors include specialists with broad experience from government agencies, utilities, academia, water districts, consulting firms and private industry.

The Lecture Organizing Committee extends thanks and appreciation to the Host of The 21st Annual Meeting and Lecture, the Bureau of Reclamation.

Special thanks are also extended to the Committee Members who selected the abstracts and reviewed the technical papers, and to the authors who prepared the papers included in this Proceedings.
