17th USCOLD Annual Meeting and Lecture Proceedings

Foreword

The theme of the Seventeenth USCOLD Annual Lecture was Non-Soil Water Barriers for Embankment Dams. The Lecture was organized by the USSD Committee on Materials for Embankment Dams to address the following topics:

  • Asphalt concrete facings and reservoir linings
  • Asphalt concrete cores
  • Concrete facings
  • Concrete and plastic concrete core walls
  • Internal diaphragms and cutoff walls
  • Geomembrane facings and diaphragms
  • Performance, short and long term
  • Construction methods and testing
  • Materials for raising, enlarging or repairing embankment dams

Twenty-six papers are included in the 424-page Proceedings, which may be purchased from USSD. Authors are specialists with broad expertise from the U.S. and around the world, representing consulting firms, government agencies, universities and utilities.

The Committee on Materials for Embankment Dams extends its thanks and appreciation to the Hosts and Co-Sponsors of the Seventeenth USCOLD Annual Meeting and Lecture.

A special thanks is also extended to the Committee Members who participated in the selection of abstracts and in the review of the technical papers.
