Foreword
The theme of the Seventeenth USCOLD Annual Lecture was Non-Soil Water Barriers for Embankment Dams. The Lecture was organized by the USSD Committee on Materials for Embankment Dams to address the following topics:
- Asphalt concrete facings and reservoir linings
- Asphalt concrete cores
- Concrete facings
- Concrete and plastic concrete core walls
- Internal diaphragms and cutoff walls
- Geomembrane facings and diaphragms
- Performance, short and long term
- Construction methods and testing
- Materials for raising, enlarging or repairing embankment dams
Twenty-six papers are included in the 424-page Proceedings, which may be purchased from USSD. Authors are specialists with broad expertise from the U.S. and around the world, representing consulting firms, government agencies, universities and utilities.
